In the new Nat Geo WILD show, three generations of Dr. Pol’s family work to turn 350 acres of land into a family farm
After years of helping animals, veterinarian Dr. Jan Pol is building them a home.
The beloved TV veterinarian — who has taken viewers behind the scenes of his practice on the Nat Geo WILD show, The Incredible Dr. Pol, since 2011 — is trying something new, and he has a new show to go with it.
The Incredible Pol Farm premieres on Nat Geo WILD on Jan. 6. The program follows the Michigan-based veterinarian and three generations of his family as they work together to turn 350 acres of undeveloped land into a fully functional family farm.
PEOPLE has a sneak peek of the new show. In the exclusive clip, which will serve as the opening to the upcoming series, Dr. Pol explains how he decided to try farming for himself.
“I’ve done this veterinary business for 50 years. I’ve worked with farmers all my life,” the vet says in the video, as the clip shows some of Dr. Pol’s past clients, including pigs, cows, and cats.
“Michigan is a good place for farmers,” he continues. “There are dairy farms, a lot of crop framing here. It has very good soil.”
Dr. Pol also reveals that he has farming experience. As the clip flashes photos from the vet’s early life, Dr. Pol explains that his family had a hobby farm “many, many years ago.”
